Ecostorm was launched in late 2003 by two British environmental journalists who realised the need for a new type of specialist – and maverick – investigative organisation capable of tackling, head on, some of the most pressing issues of our time. Using unique and sophisticated methods, Ecostorm obtains information, film and photos and shares them with the media, campaigners and others working to bring about change.
Ecostorm’s award-winning investigations and films shine a much-needed spotlight on many under-reported stories and achieve real impact by bringing important issues to new global audiences – raising awareness and sparking action.
During more than 15 years of working on the world’s environmental frontlines, Ecostorm has undertaken dozens of investigations on behalf of a wide variety of media outlets and advocacy groups. We’ve worked in over 80 countries globally. In particular, in the last decade, we’ve dedicated much time to investigating the rise of industrial livestock farming globally, from animal welfare issues and environmental impacts, to human rights abuses and public health risks.
From an initial staff of just two, our network has expanded considerably, comprising investigative journalists, film makers, researchers and others, each specialists in their respective fields. Ecostorm increasingly collaborates directly with the print and broadcast media, and we have extensive experience of supplying investigative content for use in programmes and reports.
